The Church of the Resurrection of Christ was built in the place where on March 1, 1881 the Russian Emperor Alexander II was mortally wounded. In this same place by order of his son they erected the Church of «El Salvador on the Spilled Blood».
The temple was built in the period of 1883-1907 according to the project of Alfred Parland. San Salvador is built according to the models of the Moscow and Yaroslavl churches of the 17th century. The decoration of the cathedral impresses with the richness and diversity of elements. The total surface of the mosaics reaches 7000 square meters.
