One of few Monasteries that has retained its original appearance intact since the 17th century.
In 2004 the monastery was declared a World Heritage. According to legend, the beautiful lake, located next to the walls of the Monastery inspired masterpiece of the famous Russian composer Piotr Tchaikovsky called «The Swan Lake”.
